Arriving in Bruges

Greenock, Scotland

Friday July 25, 2025

This is us, excited to be sailing into Scotland, a country we've never visited before! Although it is part of the UK, it is still considered a country.

think this is probably the one port where we made a bad choice. In this port you could choose to stay in Greenock (which is the place that we docked), or go to Glasgow (which was an hour away, and didn’t seem worth the hassle) or head out to tour the countryside (which was expensive). We chose to stay in Greenock, and in retrospect should have toured the countryside. If I came back again, that is what I would do. If any of you have any convincing reasons to go to Glasgow, I’m open to listening to your ideas 😁)

We were greeted at the port, by this person playing the bagpipes for us!

Let me tell you about our day in Greenock. We started by looking at the historical sites of the main town, which were few in number (as it was heavily bombed in WWII) and quick to see.

Then we toured a few churches, which were interesting but not really exciting.

Finally we headed up to the cemetery. This was the best part of the day for me. I’m not sure why we both find cemeteries so interesting… but we do. We spent quite a bit of time wandering around in what I would consider the nicest part of town.

Then headed back to the ship for some relaxation. I've included a couple of photos of our walk back down the hill to the ship.

We ate more food, relaxed and saw an amazing pianist in the theatre tonight. His name was Kyle Esplin and he claims he never took any music lessons. We were both blown away by his talent and enjoyed the show very much!

Saturday July 26, 2025 - Sea Day

Not much to report here. A much needed day of relaxation. All of this touring is surprisingly tiring! 😉
