Tuesday March 18 and Wednesday March 19, 2025
These two days were almost carbon copies of each other so I’m going to include them here as if they were one.
This was our routine…
First, we had a lovely walk up and down the broadwalk in the morning. We didn’t walk the whole thing, and one day we walked for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Either we are very slow (we meaning me) or it is really long! There were so many things to look at. The beautiful ocean, white sand and palm trees, the shops and restaurants, and the interesting collection of people also starting their day with a walk, bike or roller-skate along the broadwalk. It was fairly early in the morning so we didn’t think it would be that hot yet, but by the end of the walk it was toasty warm.
Next Steve went to the gym… and I regrettably, but happily laid around in the hotel room relaxing.
Then we went up to the rooftop pool. This was my favourite part of the hotel! The pool was big and warm enough for this girl, who doesn’t like to be cold. There were all kinds of chairs and if you were persistent (and Steve is) you could find some loungers and find a place to hang around for the day… and this is what we did.
There was also a nice rooftop restaurant with some casual dishes that we both enjoyed and we ate here both days. It didn’t hurt that they also had our signature drink the mudslide on the menu. Don’t worry we’re still sort of moderating/but also enjoying our vacation and shared the mudslide instead of getting our own 😉 Steve also discovered that he enjoyed the High Noon Vodka Lime Seltzer… but alas we won’t be getting those at home until some unpleasant political stuff is resolved.
Speaking of this, we decided to keep a low profile in case people weren’t fond of Canadians here in Florida, but Steve found this very difficult. He still wants to say good morning to everyone he meets and strike up conversations with pretty much anyone and everyone. That being said, either people didn’t notice we were Canadian… or didn’t care.
We spent the day(s) lounging by the pool… I finished an excellent book (Lisa Genova’s newest one) and we had the kind of days we both felt were the quintessential idyllic vacation days.
Each night we walked along the broadwalk again and found mostly forgettable food with incredible views. Of note was a key lime pie (my favourite dessert!) that we had at Margaritaville. It was quite delicious!
