We are attempting to break up the jet lag for our trip to Europe and decided on the Toronto area for this trip. I'll let you know if it actually worked! We're finding the older we get the harder it is to get over the jet lag!

For our time in Ontario, we had four wonderful nights at Pat and Henry's place, and to finish up our time we had one night in Toronto. We stayed downtown at the Pantages Hotel. It is about 2 kms up Yonge Street from the Harbourfront. We don't mind a nice walk so found this was a good way to save money. When I looked the hotels at the Harbourfront were starting around $500 dollars a night! I think it's worth a 2 km walk to save a few hundred dollars! Our hotel was quite nice and I would highly recommend it if you are doing a short stay in Toronto.

The first night we did a long walk down to the Harbourfront and all the way down to the Toronto Music Garden.

The Harbourfront is a lively area with all kinds of interesting cultural events going on. We saw painting, dancing and many musical events. There were also many spaces for families to just sit and relax together.

I've also included a short video to show one of the performance spaces in the music garden.

The next day we did another walk downtown. We found the CN Tower... but didn't feel compelled to ride the elevator to the top for $45 a person. We decided to enjoy it from the ground. We also saw the stadiums where the Blue Jays, Raptors and Maple Leafs play. If you are a sports fan there is a lot for you to see here including the Hockey Hall of Fame.

We also saw an interesting exhibition of trains near the roundhouse. I learned a lot about trains that I didn't know before... you know how I like to learn new stuff 😀

We enjoyed sitting and people watching, and a nice long walk enjoying the beautiful buildings and public art before the rain pushed us inside. When the rain started we headed into the Eaton Center... just us and about a jillion other people. I'm not sure if it is always that crowded or if that was a product of the rain!

Check out this piece of art that is a giant woodpecker!

Finally we headed off to the airport to head to our next stop, Iceland! We are VERY excited!
