Our Last Day in London

Our Final Year Off

Well here we are... starting our third and final year off. Our classroom is packed up, and we are ready to enjoy 14 months of no work responsibilities. It doesn't get much better than that... does it? :)

All of our teaching stuff is packed away in a storage locker, and we are ready for 14 months of fun!

As you can imagine, things are not going according to the original plan.

Original plan: 6 continents over 14 months, including some places we were really looking forward to... Safari in Tanzania, Zanzibar, Petra Jordan, Israel, Cambodia, Vanuatu, Iceland, South America... to name a few.

I'm sure you aren't surprised to hear that because of COVID-19 we are changing our plans.

Anywhere remote or third world is off the list. And, we decided it just doesn't make sense to move around a lot.

We're going to try to go with the flow (that's harder for me than it is for Steve!)

So, the plan is to travel around our beautiful province of B.C. for this month... and then if Malta lets us in and Canada lets us out, we'll go spend three months in Gozo.

Then we'll see where we are... and figure things out from there.

There is a little disappointment, but also the realization that people taking 14 months off their job don't have anything to complain about.

Our month of July includes a few trips around B.C. Accommodation is is already booked, but we're always open to tips and ideas for things to do and places to eat. Let me know if you think there is something we shouldn't miss in:

  1. Nanaimo (this is our test camp to see if we can fit everything in the Miata!)
  2. Whistler
  3. Hornby Island
  4. Vancouver (downtown)
  5. Osoyoos

I hope if you're following along you'll still enjoy our posts, even if they aren't going to be as exotic as we originally thought.

The goal is to stay safe and have fun... I think we're up for the challenge :)

We've already started by having a nice meal at our favourite pub with the Martas to celebrate Canada Day!
