Our Last Day in London

Couples Massage and Kealia Beach

Today was my "fake birthday" 😀

I wanted to go for a couples massage at the beach... and the only way I could justify the expense was to make it my birthday present. My birthday's only a few weeks away... so... 😉

I found Kauai Couples Massage when I did a google search. They were well reviewed on Tripadvisor so we thought we would give them a shot. We managed to do all the booking by email, and arranged for the 80 minute special for both of us at their beach location.

They aren't allowed to do the massage right on the beach, but have a beach bungalow in Anahola (just past Kapaa, but before the north side of the island). The beach bungalow is in Kumu Camp Beach Bungalows. There is a gorgeous wild beach (translation - not for swimming) that stretches the length in front of the campground. When you arrive it looks like this:

The inside of the bungalows look like this:

You could theoretically see the ocean out the windows of the bungalow, but we soon discovered that while you are being massaged your eyes are mostly closed and you wouldn't be able to see the beach anyway! You can hear the waves crashing though... and that is a pretty amazing sound while you are having a massage 😀

When we were done we had a glass of water and enjoyed the view from their little balcony.

Then we headed down to the beach to have a look. It was "ruggedly" beautiful. You can tell it wasn't a touristy area... there was barely anyone there.

Here we are looking very relaxed and happy after our massage.

As we drove back into Kapaa I made Steve stop so I could take a photo of this beautiful view.

We also saw these cute little chicks. I can't remember if I've said it before, but Kauai has chickens and roosters running loose all over the place! Apparently, there was a storm in the 90's and they all got loose from their coops... and then multiplied... and multiplied 😀 They don't appear ready to give up their freedom anytime soon!

We decided to stop in Kapaa for lunch, at the Shrimp Station again. We WERE both big fans. Everything seemed fine and tasty as always... but that night Steve had quite bad food poisoning and I had only a bit of food poisoning. This is probably due to the fact that I ate about a quarter of

his lunch and he ate the rest. So... now we don't go to the Shrimp Station anymore. It should be noted we have been there multiple times before with no problem... but you can't go back after that! Don't worry, Steve is fine now 😀

After lunch we headed to Kealia Beach.

This was another of the beaches listed in the top three beaches on the east side of Kauai. This is a beach that is good for boogie boarding and playing in the waves. They are a bit big though, so you should be a good swimmer.

We didn't have a boogie board with us, so Steve just played in the waves without one 😀

The beach was quite beautiful, and I enjoyed reading my book and wading on the edge of the water.

These puppies looked like they frequent the beach quite often, as they were prepared to swim with their life jackets on!

All in all, a good day (minus the food poisoning)!
