Today we had a pretty relaxing day. We took another walk through Ubud town taking pictures of anything interesting we saw.

We saw the school kids today again.

They were outside in the courtyard practicing a dance. It was very interesting to watch… they like to goof around just like North American kids 😀 Then the teacher came out and they quickly lined up and started taking the dance more seriously!

We had a nice lunch at Café Wayan, the sister restaurant to the place we took our cooking lesson. The food was excellent here as well! We also saw another sleeping scooter rider today!

Then we decided to go for a foot and hand massage. It was heavenly! I always feel a bit guilty because it’s so cheap. But then I remember if I didn’t go that would be less money they would be making… right?!?

In the evening we attended the Children’s Dance performance. I was really looking forward to it because everyone else’s kids are always really cute! 😉 We had a lovely dinner in what I like to call the VIP seats. It was a private little table right in front of the stage.

We saw five dances, which were all quite different. The little girls in the bunny costumes were absolutely adorable.

It was amazing to watch the detail in the dances. The dancers were concentrating on specific moves right down to the movement of their eyes and position of their fingers.

Even the young girls (I think as young as 7) really had the eyes and fingers down pat. Steve and I both really enjoyed the show.

Today we took a class on making silver jewelry in one of the shops in town, Studio Perak. We both decided to make matching rings for our twentymoon. They didn’t exactly end up looking like they match, but the intention was there and there are similar things about them 😀

Our teacher was Ketut (there are a lot of Ketut’s in Bali!). Many children in Bali are given a first name dependant upon their order of birth…The order is as follows: Wayan, Made, Nyoman and Ketut.  The cycle repeats if you have a fifth child, etc.  Steve likes this system because he is horrible at remembering names, and this makes it much easier for him 😉.

We just started with a basic strip of silver and he took us through the steps of designing, forming, etching, filing, sanding and polishing our rings. It was pretty fun to actually make your own ring (thank goodness Ketut helped a lot or who knows what my ring would have looked like in the end!)

Since they were our twentymoon rings we imprinted a 20 and our initials on the inside.

You basically had a choice to make any ring or pendant you wanted and had a lot of freedom to design it however you liked. If you are ever in Ubud I would definitely recommend this as a fun thing to do.
