Our Last Day in London

Hello Naxos! - Sept. 6, 2010

Sunday September 5, 2010

Senne's Summary: Took the ferry to Naxos and enjoyed the beach.

This morning we woke up REALLY early so we could catch a cab at 6:30 to go to the ferry.

We were pleasantly surprised to realize that the tickets we bought for the ferry gave us reserved seats (kind of like airplane seats) for our five hour ride. Once we got our luggage stored away Steve went to find us some breakfast. This is where we had the most excellent orange juice. They actually fresh squeezed the oranges right in front of Steve. Angie said the orange juice was going to be good, and she was dead on! It was so good, we had to go back for another one later 😀

Side note: If you are going to make announcements that you shouldn’t leave your luggage unattended then perhaps you shouldn’t leave the door to the luggage room open so anyone can go in there and mess around with anyone’s bags… just a thought.

We arrived in Naxos and took a cab to our apartment. The apartments are very nice… full kitchen, washing machine, two balconies (one for sitting and one for hanging laundry) and they even have Internet. The internet connection was a pleasant surprise as we were thinking we wouldn’t have one.

Steve had his bathing suit on before you could even utter the words "sandy beach" and we went down to have a look at the beach. The beach is lovely. This is the first real sand I’ve seen in Europe... and the water is shallow. You could see people way out only up to their waists in the water.

It was definitely time for eating so we went to one of the little restaurants on the beach. Imagine my delight when I saw that you could get a bowl of olives! I LOVE olives!

Enjoying a tasty lunch at Yialos Taverna!

You might even have a kitty cat join you for lunch!

After a very delicious and cheap lunch we headed down to the beach.

Ahhhhhhh. We love the beach!!! The water is so shallow it’s warm :)

We just lazed about for the rest of the day… oh, we also found the supermarket

Side note: everything is cheap in the supermarket except for the sunscreen—20 Euros per bottle!!! I’m not really sure what that is about but am going to have to look around… that’s crazy! End of side note.

…did some laundry… unpacked our bags and then went out for another evening meal where again you could get a bowl of olives! I LOVE this place!
