The Rose Code - By Kate Quinn. My score 5/5. Read in October 2021.
I think this is my favourite Kate Quinn book so far (If you haven't read her others you should! The Alice Network and The Huntress are her other two books.) This is a historical fiction book about the codebreakers during WWII at Bletchley Park. The story was gripping, diverse, and played out like a movie in my head (for the record, few books do this for me). My only teeny tiny complaint was that it was too long and very heavy to hold in my hand. (NO, I will not read an ebook!). Despite this, this is definitely worth a read!
The Canterbury Sisters - By Kim Wright. My score 4/5. Read in Feb. 2016. The characters pilgrimage from London to Canterbury.
I liked this book more than I expected, the cover does not do it justice. There were many layers and the stories that each of the women shared melded together into an interesting journey of self discovery. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Dear Mrs. Bird - By A.J. Pearce. My score 4/5. Read in January 2019.
Surprisingly enjoyable. At first it seemed a bit light, and even flighty... which was weird because it is a war time book... but it quickly became intense, gripping and at the same time light-hearted... while heart-wrenching things were regularly happening. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Don't Forget to Write - By Pam Hobbs. My score 4/5. Read in June 2018. Set in various parts of England.
The Improbability of Love - by Hannah Rothschild. My score 4/5. Read in May 2018.
I had trouble deciding between a 3 and a 4 for this one. I found the story interesting and I felt compelled to read on to find out what happened. However, I found the chapters written by the painting annoying and ended up skimming parts because it was so slow. Perhaps this is more interesting for someone who knows more about art?

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine - By Gail Honeyman. My score 5/5. Read in December 2018.
I loved this one. Beautifully written, gentle suspense, and characters that were unique and lovable. Highly recommended.
Conviction - by Denise Mina. My score 4/5. Read in March 2020. Set in Glasgow, rural Scotland and various other European cities.
Loved this one! A real page turner. I couldn't put this one down, and was pleasantly surprised at how it all turned out. The characters were interesting and well developed.

I Let You Go - By Clare Mackintosh. My score 5/5. Read in January 2020.
I loved this one! A well crafted thriller that kept me reading longer than I should have. The twist surprised me so much that I reread the page over and over because I couldn't believe it. If you like thrillers, this is a must read!
United States of America
Because I have read so many books set in the U.S. I have given this country its own page... which you can find here: United States of America
