Only 13: The True Story of Lon - By Julia Manzanares. My score 3/5. Read in March 2011.
Deeply disturbing and a story that needs to be told. That being said I think the writing was horrible. Although I was very interested in the story, I almost couldn't finish reading the book. I wish someone else had written Lon's story, so that more people will hear it. Although the writing is terrible, I would still recommend reading this book. It is a real eye opener.

The Doctor and the Diva - By Adrienne McDonnell. My score 4/5. Read in November 2022.
When I started this book, I didn't realize I'd be checking this obscure country off my list. What a pleasant surprise. The book was engaging and throught-provoking, and I felt that it was well-written. I did feel uncomfortable with some racial terms that would now be considered derogatory, but may not have been when the book was set in the early 1900's.

Snow - By Orhan Pamuk. My score 3/5. Read in December 2018.
I have mixed feelings about this one. I feel like it was an amazing "intellectual" book. Maybe I just wasn't smart enough to appreciate it? As I approached the end, I found it more gripping... but it was a slog to get through this one.
