Laos

Lost in Yaba: Down and Out in Laos - by Walt Gleeson. My score 3/5. Read in December 2020. Set mostly in Vientiane but also in Vang Vieng. A memoir about an expat's drug addiction in Laos. Dark, authentic and deeply disturbing. If you are looking for insight into the exploitation of Laos women by tourists and expats this is an interesting read.

An Unneccesary Woman - By Rabih Alameddine. My score 4/5. Read in November 2020. Set in Beirut. I enjoyed this one most of the time. It seemed to go off on a tangent sometimes, and I felt and urgency to get back to the real story. I loved the character development, and the view into life in Beirut.
