Our Last Day in London

Things we Love About Santorini - Sept. 16, 2010

Thursday September 16, 2010

Went to the beach at Kamari again and had a lovely day in the sunshine. We finished off this very relaxing day with some last minute souvenir shopping for Mom and Gary and a decadent dessert. Tomorrow Mom and Gary start their journey home and Steve and I head back to Naxos for more fun and relaxation.

Here is our advice if you are travelling to Santorini. Stay in Fira for 3 nights. If you can afford it, stay at one of the nice places right on the cliff side. (It's pricey!) Enjoy your first day exploring Fira. On your second day, go to Oia. On your third day take a tour of the Volcano and Hot (that’s debatable) Springs. Then for the remainder of your time go stay in Kamari at one of the beach hotels. From here you could visit the red and white beach, Ancient Thira and Perissa if you like.

Not only are the buildings beautiful, but the flowers are too!

Things we liked about Santorini:

  • The view from the Caldera. It is a beautiful view from the cliff top.

  • Touring the volcano and being able to see the Caldera from the middle.
  • Kamari Beach. A nice little town by the sea.
  • All the cute little kitty cats 😸

The white and blue buildings make for some great photos and views. This is especially true in Oia.

Pork Tenderloin (Super YUM!) and the ouzo shooters with grenadine and fruit juice.

  • It was evident how close-knit the families were from generation to generation. They all seem to live together and help each other. Nobody is expecting other people to help you. Your family helps you.
Until next time, Santorini!
